To address the existing struggles of precipitation nowcasting, Prof. Wang Jianmin & assoc. Prof. Long Mingsheng’s team from the School of Software proposed NowcastNet. This nonlinear nowcasting model provides precipitation nowcasts with high resolution, a long lead time and local details. Their work will mitigate the socioeconomic effects of extreme precipitation and improve precipitation nowcasting skills!
